Abstract. Mining and quarrying operations exert a substantial influence on both the environment and nearby communities. Plenty of them can be found in mountainous areas of Transylvania. These activities, which involve the excavation of expansive open pits and the disruption of soil and vegetation, can lead to adverse consequences such as soil erosion, deforestation, habitat degradation, and water contamination. Mining and quarrying operations carry notable consequences for both the environment and nearby communities. The interventions of contemporary humans have changed the landscape on an unprecedented scale. The signs of human involvement are apparent in numerous locations in the Giurgeului Depression; the Suseni quarry site is an example of a place that necessitates a comprehensive rehabilitation plan.
